Medical Weight Loss

Being overweight affects both your physical and mental health. It increases your risk of developing several health conditions such high blood pressure, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, fatty liver disease and many more. It can cause low mood, low motivation, low energy, and low self-esteem which can lead to depression. It is also important to consider causes for chronic weight gain such as depression, emotional eating, food addiction, binge eating, as well as metabolic side effects from certain medications.

Weight loss has significant physiological benefits and can greatly reduce your risk for developing these health ailments and can improve your overall mood, boost confidence, increase energy and enhance cognitive functioning.

Wegovy® (Semaglutide) or Zepbound® (Tirzepatide) injections combined with medical supervision, healthy eating and exercise, and a positive mindset will get you on the fast track to an overall healthier you!

What is Wegovy (Semaglutide) and Zepbound (Tirzepatide)?

Semaglutide is the active ingredient found in Wegovy® and Ozempic® and is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist. It mimics the GLP-1 hormone that is released in the gastrointestinal tract in response to eating, delaying gastric emptying, making you feel fuller longer. It also helps regulate glucose levels and reduces food cravings which aids in weight loss. It was originally FDA approved under the brand name Ozempic® to help control blood sugar levels in patients with Type II Diabetes and was recently FDA approved under the brand name Wegovy® for weight management for patients with a BMI of 30 or higher or BMI of 27 or higher who also have a weight related medical condition. Individuals on semaglutide lose an average of 15% of their body weight. Starting dose is 0.25mg weekly subcutaneous injections (self administered) for four weeks. The dose is then increased every four weeks until you reach your maintenance dose.

Tirzepatide is the active ingredient found in Zepbound® and Mounjaro® and is a glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist. It works by mimicking the GLP-1 and GIP hormones that are naturally secreted by the intestine after a meal which then prompts insulin secretion. Tirzepatide also delays gastric emptying which helps you feel fuller for longer and also reduces food cravings which aids in weight loss. It is similar to semaglutide but has been known to have less side effects. It was also originally FDA approved under the brand name Mounjaro® to help control blood sugar levels in patients with Type II Diabetes and was recently FDA approved under the brand name Zepbound® for weight management for patients with a BMI of 30 or higher or BMI of 27 or higher who also have a weight related medical condition. Individuals on Tirzepatide lose an average of 25% of their body weight. Starting dose is 2.5 mg weekly subcutaneous injections (self administered) for four weeks. The dose is then increased every four weeks until you reach your maintenance dose which is usually around 5mg weekly.

What is a compound pharmacy?

A compounding pharmacy is a pharmacy that makes customized medications as an alternative to FDA approved brand name products. They are often prescribed when an FDA approved medication is unavailable due to a shortage or the dosage form is unavailable. The FDA may allow these medications to be compounded during a shortage if they meet the following criteria: use the same form of semaglutide or tirzepatide in FDA medications (semaglutide or tirzepatide base), purchase semaglutide/tirzepatide base from FDA registered facilities, compound semaglutide or tirzepatide in accordance with state and federal regulations, and dispenses compounded medication with a prescription from a licensed healthcare professional. The semaglutide and tirzepatide made in compounding pharmacies contain the same active ingredient which are found in FDA approved Wegovy and Zepbound, however, the FDA does not approve compounded medications.

We only partner with compounding pharmacies that are in compliance with 503A/503B regulations, located in the US, and have accreditation by the Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board (PCAB)
